Grace Through the Senses

NOTE: When click on the link you may have to put "touching the Divine with Hands on Faith" into the sites search engine.
I love how the interview finishes.  Imagine that the world might be brought to peace, understanding, dare I say into the kingdom of God, if through our senses children learn each others Sacred sensory experiences.  Lots to think about...

Reflection on Spring

This past weekend I ran the Blue Nose Marathon.  Almost each step of the 42k route was greeted with a smile and a sense of thanks/wonder for being able to go the distance.  It was a spring day: starting off sunny with a breeze, the temperature rose until it was almost too hot, and then a bank of fog with a stiff headwind rolled in off the ocean.  It was next to frigid when crossing the finish line 3:59:03 later in time.
Back to work on Tuesday meant socializing with a group of seniors over a meal and card games.  It was nice, but, the complaints about the weather.  It struck me that much of the conversation was a sense that there is a movement from winter to summer with no experience of spring.  Spring has disappeared.
Has it?  It is calling for rain for the next week.  That sounds like spring.  All kinds of weather happened during the marathon.  That sounds like spring. Not to mention the trees are slowly leafing, the birds are building nests, and the flowers are growing and opening in the order the Creator intended.
For some reason spring has been envisioned as a season of warmth, nice weather in comparison to that of winter, almost reflective of summer.  The season is being rushed as a consumer society wants and expects to get what it wants...warm sunny days on the patio.

Grace is in each day where the weather does everything.
Grace is in the craziness of trying to decide how many layers to wear and seeing if the right ones were chosen (a game of sorts).
Grace is the healing and growing potential in each drop of rain.
Grace is in the waking up of creation after a long winters nap.
Grace is greeting the weather --- each day --- with a smile and a sense of thanks/wonder for being able to experience it.
