For weeks, congregation members have been preparing envelopes to hold homemade cookies. The envelopes were covered in words, pictures, scripture, and poetry. On Sunday, the envelopes and cookies + gluten free tea biscuits, were blessed.
The picture above is the church's front door. On #tuneinTues the door is open from 1-6pm. Neighbours are invited to come in: pray, relax, reflect, use the bathroom, have a cup of coffee, study, or use the big tables for projects, and sometimes activities are offered by congregation members.
Today six people handed out free homemade cookies.
It was wonderful to interact with our neighbours!!!
It was also eye-opening. There were many who were sceptical --- hard to believe that cookies could be given out for FREE, no strings attached. There was no preaching, no literature handed out, no one asked for money, and we didn't ask or tell the neighbours to come to church. Free like God's grace.
Today we were about sharing joy. We were offering something homemade because we wanted to.
Today we are richer --- filled by the connections we made--- the shy giggles, the conversations, the waves, the smiles, and the thank yous.
